Twin Cities Mediation - Dan Simon, M.A., J.D.

Dan Simon, Certified Transformative Mediator

(Certified by the Institute for the Study of Conflict Transformation and by Mediate.com)

As a teacher and practitioner of the transformative approach, I help parties have a constructive conversation about their differences. I received my law degree, cum laude, from the University of Minnesota School of Law, my M.A. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Minnesota, and my B.A., withISCT vid cap honors, from the University of California at Berkeley. Although I am licensed to practice law in Minnesota, I prefer to practice mediation exclusively. Before creating Twin Cities Mediation, I worked as a business litigation attorney and as a family business consultant. Throughout my career, I have sought better ways to intervene in cases of highly emotional conflict.

I currently serve as the Chair of the Minnesota State Bar Association’s ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) Section. Also, I am a member of the Minnesota Supreme Court’s ADR Ethics Board (which is responsible for upholding ethical standards of ADR providers).  I have the highest possible rating (AV – Preeminent) from Martindale Hubbell and the highest possible rating (10.0 – Superb) on Avvo.com.

"I recently had a phone consultation with another mediator who was working with one of my clients. From the moment we got on the phone, the guy never stopped talking. No wonder my client felt overwhelmed in his presence. When you consult with Dan Simon, he never stops listening. This is what distressed couples need. They do not need another person talking at them or pressuring them into making critical decisions about their lives before they're ready."
